Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and often stylized with the letters in uppercase as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves is released in May of 2015 by Decca Records. It has received a lot of praise from blogs and the press. Half the World Away - by the Oasis to accompany John Lewis' Christmas ad as well as Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole have already been two notable covers that she has recorded. The singer gained further attention through a tweet from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. Enjoy the celebration of this special event. Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano that was in her basement and bewildered by the sound it made. Parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as an occupation or pastime but as a way to develop. In order to do so, she began writing songs that were her own creations. In addition to Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. After her mother said that the songs she composed could be used to not be famous for her, rather to help people to realize the value of themselves and their impact to our world at large, she began playing them on stage. At age 6 she started playing the piano and at nine was writing music. Her family didn't be aware of this until she was fourteen. Aurora did not have a set goal. She claims that she enjoys composing music. According to her, the songs she creates are her way of feeling any thing.
